Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 24-cup mini muffin tin with non-stick spray.

  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar, diced jalapenos, crumbled bacon, and garlic powder. Mix until well incorporated.

  3. Gently press one wonton wrapper into each cup of the mini muffin tin, making sure the edges point upward to create a cup shape.

  4. Fill each wonton cup with approximately one tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture.

  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges of the wontons are golden brown and the cheese filling is hot and bubbly.

  6. Remove from the oven and let them rest in the pan for 5 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set.

Notes

For an extra spicy kick, leave a few seeds in the diced jalapenos.

Ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature to avoid lumps in the filling.

If you don't have a mini muffin tin, a standard muffin tin works; just double the wrappers to make larger cups.

Garnish with fresh green onions or a drizzle of ranch dressing before serving.

Questions

Can I make these ahead of time?
You can prepare the filling up to 24 hours in advance. For the best texture, fill and bake the wontons just before serving.
Can I air fry these wonton puffs?
Yes, air fry at 350°F for about 6-8 minutes, but be careful as the light wonton edges can burn quickly in an air fryer.
How do I store leftovers?
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to regain the crunch.
Can I make these vegetarian?
Simply omit the bacon. You can add a pinch of smoked paprika to the filling to maintain a smoky flavor.
