Method
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, and cocoa powder until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.
Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition, then stir in the Kahlua and vanilla extract.
Gently fold in the flour and salt using a spatula until just incorporated. Do not overmix, as this will make the brownies cakey instead of fudgy.
Stir in the chocolate chips and pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with your spatula.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
Use Dutch-processed cocoa for a darker, richer color and a smoother chocolate flavor.
Be careful not to overbake; start checking the center at the 25-minute mark to maintain a fudgy interior.
For the cleanest slices, refrigerate the brownies for an hour before cutting with a sharp, warm knife.
If you want an extra boozy kick, brush a tablespoon of Kahlua over the surface of the brownies immediately after taking them out of the oven.
